How to Install Node.js on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS Using nvm | Step-by-Step Tutorial

nvm Node Installation Tutorial

If you need to install Node.js on your computer, nvm is a great tool to use. nvm is a command-line tool that allows you to easily install, manage, and switch between different versions of Node.js. In this tutorial, we'll walk through the steps for installing Node.js on Windows, Linux, and Mac OS using nvm.

Step 1: Install nvm

The first step is to install nvm itself. Open a terminal or command prompt and run the following command:

curl -o- https://raw.githubusercontent.com/nvm-sh/nvm/v0.39.0/install.sh | bash

This command will download and install nvm on your system.

Step 2: Install Node.js with nvm

Now that nvm is installed, we can use it to install Node.js. Run the following command in your terminal or command prompt:

nvm install node

This will install the latest version of Node.js available in nvm. If you want to install a specific version, you can use the following command instead:

nvm install <version>

Replace <version> with the version of Node.js you want to install, such as 14.18.1.

Step 3: Verify Node.js Installation

To verify that Node.js was installed correctly, run the following command in your terminal or command prompt:

node -v

This should display the version of Node.js that you just installed.

That's it! You now have Node.js installed on your computer using nvm. To switch between different versions of Node.js or manage your Node.js installations, simply use the nvm commands. Happy coding!
